Kids’ Traditional Language Classes
Reconnecting Through Language: Kirundi, Kinyarwanda, and Swahili for Cultural Identity and Communication
Overview:
Language is the heart of culture. Many children in our community are growing up disconnected from their heritage because they’ve never had the chance to learn the language of their ancestors. At UFHC, we believe that helping children learn Kirundi, Kinyarwanda, and Swahili strengthens their identity and builds lasting intergenerational bonds.
What We Offer:
• Weekly classes led by fluent speakers and cultural educators.
• Beginner-friendly learning that incorporates songs, games, storytelling, and visual aids.
• Multilevel instruction, from total beginners to those who want to strengthen basic speaking skills.
• Interactive learning that includes common phrases, greetings, family terms, and cultural expressions.
• Connection to family—classes are designed to help kids talk with elders, understand traditional songs and stories, and feel proud of who they are.
Our Goal:
To help kids reclaim their voice, express their identity, and communicate confidently in their heritage languages.
